NIMSI members rise to the top earning several prestigious accolades at NAMRC 2025
NIMSI's design and manufacturing group members received several awards at the annual flagship manufacturing research conference (collocated) 2025 ASME MSEC (Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference) and 2025 SME NAMRC 53, Greensville, SC, June 23 – 27, 2025.
Professor Ping Guo earns the ASME Chao & Trigger Young Manufacturing Engineer Award and is also elected a Fellow for ASME.
Student Malachi Landis wins the MSEC Best Poster Award for his work “Development and Characterization of Dauber: Miniaturized Additive Friction Stir Deposition”
Student Fred Carter is awarded the 2025 SME Shiv Kapoor Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award
PostDoc Ying-Kuan Tsai, students Yi-Ping Chen, Vispi Karkaria, Faith Rolark, and Daniel Quispe, and Professors Jian Cao and Wei Chen win the NAMRC Outstanding Paper in Manufacturing Systems, for their paper, “Real-Time Decision-Making for Digital Twin in Additive Manufacturing with Model Predictive Control using Time-Series Deep Neural Networks”
Student Rujing Zha, Professor Jian Cao and NIMSI alumni were awarded the NAMRC Outstanding Paper in Manufacturing Processes for their work, “Directed Energy Deposition on Sheet Metal Forming for Reinforcement Structures”
Students Rujing Zha and Kojo Welbeck chosen as finalists for the NAMRC Student Research Presentation Competition with Rujing Zha finishing runner-up.
